With schools breaking up for the long summer holiday, this weekend looks set to be the year’s busiest so far for the UK’s travel networks.
Major traffic jams and a planned pilots’ strike could spell trouble for holidaymakers as they battle their way towards the airports, ferry docks and staycation spots. We’ll be thinking of you all and hoping your getaway goes as smoothly as possible!
But once you’ve reached that long-awaited beach, it’s time to relax and unwind with the family. Nothing beats a wonderful holiday with your loved ones; however, couldn’t we all do with a little extra spending money when we’re getting away?
In that case, you might be surprised to know that you could be eligible to claim a tax refund against certain work-related expenses, even for PAYE. Do you travel to temporary workplaces in your own vehicle or on public transport, at your own expense? Construction workers and Armed Forces staff, for example, often have to go to different sites to work.
Healthcare workers, sports professionals, mechanics, cabin crew and security staff could also qualify for a tax refund against some expenses. If you maintain uniform or equipment, take part in training or buy professional memberships – these are just some examples of the many expenses that could qualify – there may be tax relief available for you.
With the average four-year claim being worth between £2,000 and £3,000, it’s really important that you check whether you’re entitled to claim. That’s a lot of extra ice creams on your next holiday!
Give our friendly team a call today to find out if you have a claim.
